PARISH BULLETIN |
Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus, were very close friends of Our Lord, trusting that their dead brother would rise again in the Resurrection on the last day. Then Jesus said, "I am the Resurrection," raised His voice and called, "Lazarus, come forth!" We can be sure that the news of Lazarus miraculously coming out of his tomb alive after being dead for four days would spread like wildfire! No doubt that he had been dead. Now he was alive again! Can anyone doubt that Jesus is the Resurrection? That whoever believes in Him will live--even in death? But the life to which Jesus restored Lazarus was not yet the glorified life of heaven. Lazarus would someday die again--but this time to follow the risen and glorified Jesus. For all who have ever lost loved ones, or who fear the death of someone dear...this Good News is announced to you today! In two weeks the world will celebrate the fact that death has been conquered. Be not afraid! "Lord Jesus, come in glory!" Fr. Mark Taheny |

READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY, IN THE HOUSE OF GOD Its odd, in a way, that as we celebrate and remember the death of Jesus, we realize that he is alive. We remember and celebrate this mystery, this passover from death to life, especially in the Eucharistic Prayer. We tell the story of his last supper and Eucharist with his disciples from thousands of years ago. But we take bread and wine today, in the company of children, spouses, parents, good friends, and even people we dont know, we bless and give thanks to God today; we break that Bread and pour out that Wine, his Body and Blood, today; and we share that meal today. We know that in that taking, blessing, breaking, and sharing, the presence of Jesus Christ is real. Over and over again we must open our hearts to this awesome mystery that is hidden in common bread and wine, in a long prayer of blessing, in sometimes ordinary priests and people. Do we have the eyes of faith? Can we leave Mass saying, "We have seen the Lord!"? - P.K. *We pray for the ill: Tony Coogan, Koret Koelman, Terry McLeod, Adela Florez, Ana Cosgaya, Peter Capodonicco, Rosemary McHale, Arthur Candia, Bastiaan Blumenthal, Muriel Krause, Sister Cabrini, Don Vickery, Jeanne McHugh, Catherine Cook, Ann Burns, Imelda Daly, Margarita Velez, Marky, Marlyn Arancibia, Marcia Bourne, Sandra Dill, Randall Guerro, Denise Hawald, Cyndy Smerdel, Marina Buhain, Perry Gonis, Richard Quintana & Rita Gomez.
