PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners, Thank you to all the teachers and staff of our Parish School for their service to the children of our parish during the past school year. Let us all pray that the teachers, as well as the students, have a restful summer. In last weeks bulletin we read that all ministry in the Church is rooted in Christ and His Church. Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles, in his pastoral letter, emphasizes that all baptized are called to share in the Churchs mission through mutual service, through a life of worship and through witness to the Gospel by holiness of life. He writes: "These are the hallmarks of Christian living. The manner and degree of engagement in this common call can differ, depending on the gifts and ministries given by the Spirit". In our Parish we have lay people who minister full time in the Church; for instance, our teachers and our Liturgy minister, as well as countless people who minister part time in our Liturgies, our ministry to the sick and in other areas of our Parish life. Other areas in which we need more people to exercise their gifts include that of administration and youth ministry. Of course, we never forget those who are called to special ministry in the Chuch as priests, deacons and religious. We must always pray to God for an increase in vocations to these ministries, as well as those of lay ministry. Sincerely, |
On this Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, we hear Jesus tell us: "Take it; this is My Body".... This is the Cup of the Covenant, which will be shed for many". May each of us be filled with the firm belief that, as we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we truly are partaking of the Body and Blood of Jesus. He has given His Life for us on the cross that we may have new life within us - His Life that will never end. When we receive this Sacrament, we become one with God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Can there be a greater sign of love than our Savior wanting so much to become one with each of us that He has made Himself food for our body - food for our soul - The bread of Life and The Cup of Eternal Salvation? Together now we are one Body; one Body in Christ. The realization of this truth overwhelms us; humbles us and brings us to the fullness of joy. Rejoice - Our God love us! Jesus says to each of us: "Know that This really is Me - that I wait patiently for you - that I long to enter into you and become one with you. This is My Hearts desire since the beginning of all life - Come to Me all you who are heavily burdened; I will refresh you". Thank you and Love, |

READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY IN OUR HOUSE We all have the right to be able to hear the Word of God proclaimed. Its part of the gift that God offers to us. Our lectors, priests, and deacons need to prepare themselves to present the Scripture readings to us. We also have an obligation to hear the Word of God proclaimed. Its part of what God asks of us. We do well to read the readings before we come to Mass. We need to prepare ourselves to listen well. Slipping into Mass late on a regular basis or reading the bulletin during the readings is not OK. For Mass to be meaningful for us, we must claim our rights and fulfill our obligations as worshiping Christians. - Pat Kelly pray for the ill: Marlyn Arancibia, Bastiaan Blumenthal, Marcia Bourne, Ann Burns, Sister Cabrini, Arthur Candia, Peter Capodonicco, Ana Cosgaya, Imelda Daly, William & Sandra Dill, Adela Florez, Elsie Grech, Randall Guerro, Denise Hawald, Koret Koelman, Muriel Krause, Marky, Rosemary McHale, Jeanne McHugh, Terry McLeod, Richard Quintana, Cyndy Smerdel, Ann Steinerd, Bill Strehl, Margarita Velez, Terry Kollerer, Josephine Lavoie, & Don Vickery. As a Parish Community, We Pray Just as Jesus feeds us with His Body and Blood, may we feed all who hunger spiritually, emotionally or physically. |
