Dear Parishioners,

Thank you to the staff of the Parish and School for all they have done for the Parish. Sandy Murtaugh, who has worked part time helping the Teen Club, is "retiring" from the ministry. Thank you, Sandy, for your dedication. Her place will be taken by Diana Landin, who has been a volunteer for several years. What we are in great need of is volunteers who will re-start BOB’S CLUB for the junior high students of the Parish.. Please phone the Parish Office if you would like to help.

In the Fall, a survey of the Parish will be made by Olwell Associates in order to seek your opinions about the proposal to build an Educational, Social and Recreational Center for the Parish and how it should be financed.

As you know, I will be on Sabbatical until the end of January. If you would like to contact me, you can write to me care of the Parish Office or e-mail me at vring@aol.com. Let us pray for each other.

The Campaign for Catholic Education was a great success in our Parish. We raised $7,850 over our goal of $207,000. This money has been sent back to us as promised and we will be able to continue giving local tuition assistance to the children of our Parish in both the school and Religious Education program. Thank you to all who made contributions. If you are still paying on your pledge, please continue to do so.

Your Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gifts of $1,500 have been given to the Archdiocesan Appeal, We have raised $73,000 of our goal of $79,000. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Father Ring

An idea for prayer: The next time you are driving, pray for the team that designed your car, for the machinists who assembled it, for the management team that marketed it, for the teamster that delivered it, for the sales staff that sold it, for the mechanic who keeps you safe in it, for the agent who insures it, for the loan officer who financed it, and for the environmentalists who are trying to improve it. Then you will appreciate how important St. Christopher really is.

Father Morris

READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY, THE SOLEMNITY OF THE TRANSFIGURATION
Daniel 7:9-14; 2 Peter 1:16-19; Mark 9:2-10

IN OUR HOUSE Pope John Paul II has expressed hopes that this jubilee year would be "intensely Eucharistic." Our participation in the Eucharist is the source and summit of our Christian lives. For the next five Sundays, with the exception of the Feast of the Transfiguration next week, the gospel readings are from chapter six of the Gospel according to John. In this chapter we read about Jesus feeding the five thousand and then declaring himself to be the true Bread of Life. I invite you to take some time for reflection during the next few weeks on Eucharist. Eucharist is the supreme act of worship by Christ and his Church. Ask yourself, "What is God is doing among us in Eucharist?" and "What is this act we are doing?" - Pat Kelly

we wecome into the family of god: Stephanie Galea, Noah Garcia & Alissia Rodriguez-Martinez, who were baptized in Christ.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Jesus calls us to come frequently to the tabernacle for private, personal meditation outside of Mass. When we do this, we respond gratefullly to Christ and achieve a close familiarity with Him. In His presence we pour out our hearts to Him for ourselves and those dear to us; for peace and for the salvation of all the world. We offer our entire lives with Jesus to the Father in the Holy Spirit, thus we grow in faith, in hope and in love. Come to Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturday, August 5th, followng the 8:30 AM Mass and closing with Benediction at 10:00 AM.

NEXT WEEKEND, AT ALL MASSES

Rev. Ferry D. Cruz will be speaking about the works and needs of his diocese in India. The diocese of Trivandrum has about three hundred thousand Catholics. 90% of the people are traditional fishermen who depend solely on fishing for their livelihood and 10% are farm workers who are recent converts from Hinduism. "Harvest is plenty, but laborers are few!" Unemployment and poverty are most rampant in this community and the cry for spiritual, educational and economical assistance is constant. The diocese itself depends on outside contributions for the salary and support of its priests, catechists and seminarians. Won’t you be as generous as you can in the second collection? Your generosity toward the missions is always appreciated and God bless you.
