PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Friends: One day during vacation I felt like having a nice cup of hot tea, so I filled the kettle with water and sat down to read the paper while I was waiting for the water to boil. After a while it was still cold. I commented on this to my sister, to which she replied, " It would be a good idea if you plugged it in." I did and soon the water was boiling. The power was there all the time, but I had neglected to use it. In todays Gospel reading we hear about the power of God that is available to us in the Eucharist, the Bread of Life. Jesus said that unless we eat this Bread we will not have life in us. We will be like the kettle filled with cold water. Nothing happens. but if we eat, it will let the power of the Risen Jesus boil up in us and overflow on all we meet. What a great parish we would have if we did just that. PLUG IN! God Bless you, |
ARCHDIOCESAN JUBILEE MASS 2000 |
The Archdiocesan Jubilee Mass is at Pac Bell Park on Saturday, October 28. Admission is by ticket only, but the tickets are free! Be sure to sign up as soon as possible so that we can request tickets for each of you. We are planning to take the Caltrain, but we also have a limited number (97) of seats available on buses for those who would have difficulty taking the train. Each parish will order T-shirts of differing colors and bring a special banner. (Our color is Kelly Green.) The cost of the T-shirt is $5. We need to turn in our count soon, so order yours right away! St. Roberts parishioners will be seated in the section behind home plate. Doors open at 12 Noon, a Pre-Liturgy Celebration will begin at 1:30, and the Mass will begin at 3:00pm. (This Mass will fulfill your Sunday obligation.) The Ballpark will be crowded with thousands of Catholics from every corner of our archdiocese, sisters, brothers, priests, bishops, and two cardinals. This Eucharistic celebration, in this Jubilee Year, will be a tremendous sign of Gods presence, uniting us all in a joyous celebration of faith! |
