PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners, Did you see the face of Jesus this week? He saw you. He loved you. He may have even hugged or kissed you. Wake up! Dont miss another opportunity to see Jesus. I firmly believe that the harder the life experience we are enduring, especially loneliness - suffering - grief, the more Jesus is trying to reach you. As hard as it may seem, try to see the face of Jesus in everyone. Be the face of Jesus to someone. Be open to God working through you to reach others. Advent and Christmas are seasons of sharing. Share the love God has for you with someone. Heres looking at you! - Jesus! |
ADVENT PENANCE SERVICE |
During our spiritual life, often we fall. Falls, great and small, can and do offer us an opportunity to grow, provided we are sincerely repentant. Jesus says to each of us: "Come to Me all who are heavily burdened; I will refresh you". We have this opportunity to confess our sins, be reconciled with God, and begin life anew on Tuesday, December 19th, at 7:30 PM A Q&A session with Pat Kelly, our parish liturgist, about the Sacrament of Penance will be held 1/2 hour before each service in Marys Chapel. All questions welcome! |
Dear Parishioners, Since my return last weekend, several of you have asked for an update on the possibility of building an Educational and Parish Center. I will meet this week with the Quentin Olwell of Olwell Associates, who conducted the interviews with individual parishioners and supervised the Parish survey. At this time, he will give an update report which will be shared with the Chair and the members of the Development Committee. My hope is that after Christmas we can have a Parish meeting to share what we have learned and to help in the decision-making process. The final report of the Festival Committee has not yet been finalized (late bills!). At this time, I am happy to report that all signs are that the Festival made over $45,000.00 for the School, Religious Education and Parish programs. Congratulations to all who made this possible. I will provide a final updating when it is available. Thank you to those who contributed to the Thanksgiving Day collection for the benefit of the Catholic Worker House of San Bruno. The amount given was $2,116. This will help families in extreme need. Please pray for the repose of the soul of Frances Fullan who died on Sept. 10, 2000 and left the Parish a generous gift. Sincerely, Father Ring |

We church people tend to rail against the way we have turned Christmas into a big reason to go shopping, but how bad can we be buying gifts for the people we love? "Where there is love, God is there." Thats the important thingto recognize God among us as we go about the good we do. The one true source of our goodness is the Most Holy Trinity. This Advent, ask Christ to reveal Himself in the shopping, cleaning, cooking, and praying we all do as we get ready for Christmas. - Pat Kelly |
GIFTS FOR THE HOMEBOUND |
We ask Jesus in our Advent theme: LORD, SHOW US YOUR FACE. He does this many times over and especially when we look into our hearts and see these good people who need our love. If you are so moved, please bring your gifts to the baskets on our altar steps. Some suggestions are: Robes, Slippers, Nightgowns, Pajamas, Sweaters, Knee Socks, Lap Robes, Dusters. The gifts should be new and unwrapped. The cut off date is December 17th so that Sister Ita and her helpers will have time to wrap and deliver your gifts. |
