Dear Parishioners,

Often, I hear from children (and, at times, also from adults) why should we go to Mass on the Lord’s Day? A few months ago I asked members of the Parish staff to come up with a small list of reasons that we could all use when talking to the children at school and at religious education classes. You might find them helpful to review yourselves and with members of your family.

1. Jesus invites us "DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME"
2. We join Jesus in our central act of Worship to God the Father with the community of those who believe in us.
3. In the Mass we adore, thank and praise God.
4. We need to be fed spiritually by hearing the Word of God and receiving the Bread of Life (Eucharist).
5. To give us the strength we need to pattern our lives on the life of Jesus. His love changes us.
6. Mass draws the family of believers together to form community.
7. Mass is a public expression and celebration of our commitment to serve others beginning with our own family and reaching out to others.

Sincerely,

Fr. Ring

AS A PARISH COMMUNITY

We pray for the ill: Helen Miller, Cyndy Smerdel, Adela Florez, Ana Cosgaya, Tony Coogan, Bill Wilson, Peter Capodonicco, Rosemary McHale, Arthur Candia, and Margarita Velez .

We pray for the repose of the souls of Margaret Scott (mother of Sheila Schleining and mother-in-law of Priscilla Scott who worked in our parish office) and Ruth Loomis (mother of Margaret Kelley) and offer our sympathies to their families.

We pray for the members of our RCIA process. As they prepare for full communion with our Church, may they grow in strength and holiness.

RENEW Prayer

Gracious God
We are your people embraced by your love.
We thank you for your presence with us throughout all time.
As we celebrate the 2000 years since the birth of Jesus...
Create us anew.
Liberate us from that which keeps us from you.
Enable us to recreate our world and restore justice.
Heal us from every form of sin and violence.
Transform us to live your Word more profoundly.
Reconcile us so enemies become friends.
Awaken us to the sacred, nurture our relationships.
Enliven our parishes; reunite our families.
Fill us with joy to celebrate the fullness of life.
Empower us to be a community of love growing in your likeness.
Amen!
