PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners, Congratulations to the fourth grade children of our Parish who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) for the first formal time last Saturday. Thank you to Sister Mary and the teachers who helped prepare the children for this great Sacrament of Gods love. Our Season of Lent continues with daily Mass at 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. Make an effort to come one weekday a week or perhaps join us for the Stations of the Cross at 5:30 p.m. on Fridays Our theme for Lent is the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Try to put the gift of courage (fortitude) into practice during this coming week. This weeks Gift of the Holy Spirit: COURAGE We come to the heart of lent. the word courage is derived from the Latin word corm "heart". Courage is the gift that enables us to face danger and overcome fear with confidence. In the Gospels, before performing a cure Jesus often says, "Take courage....Take heart....Be confident...." Sometimes we are afraid in the face of danger or illness because we are depending on our own resources, our own strength. The Gift of Courage enables us to see where our real strength lies: God is our strength. "God indeed is my savior; I am confident and unafraid. My strength and my courage is the Lord" (Isaiah 12:2). How much of our planning is based on our own strength and resources? Idea: This week I will bring my difficulties before God in prayer. Prayer: God of Courage, your strength enables us to over come any difficulty. May your Holy Spirit of Courage give us bold hearts to proclaim your love always. Sincerely, |

On Sunday, March 22nd, at the noon Mass, St. Roberts will celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick. All who are ill or experiencing the affects of aging are invited to receive this sacrament. From it we derive strength, peace and courage. We unite our suffering with the Passion of Jesus and prepare for our final journey to eternal life. |

LENT REGULATIONS |
ABSTINENCE: Everyone fourteen years of age and older is bound to abstain from meat on ASH WEDNESDAY, the FRIDAYS of Lent and GOOD FRIDAY. FAST: Everyone eighteen years of age and older but under the age of sixty is also bound to fast on ASH WEDNESDAY and GOOD FRIDAY. On these two days, the law of fast allows only one full meal a day, but does not prohibit taking some food during the day, so long as this does not constitute another full meal. Drinking liquids during the day is permitted. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. In doubt concerning fast or abstinece, a priest assigned to pastoral ministry or confessor should be consulted. In the spirit of penance, the faithful should not lightly excuse themselves from this obligation. |

LENTEN STATIONS OF THE CROSS AND SOUP SUPPERS |
Each Friday during Lent, you are invited to join our St. Roberts family and participate in the three Lenten disciplines: Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving. Let us PRAY together, in the Church, at 5:30 PM, Stations of the Cross. Then we will FAST, in Hennessy Hall, as we share a light meal. Our ALMSGIVING is to put in our basket for the hungry the amount we would have spent for this Friday dinner. St. Vincent de Paul will use this to feed our hungry sisters and brothers. This is a great way to get to know members of our Parish family. Our hosts for the soup supper this week are the FilAm Group and the Legion of Mary. |
