PARISH BULLETIN |
The Church moves to the conclusion of the Easter Season by celebrating the presence of Christ to the church in the Holy Spirit. Through the gift of Baptism and Confirmation, we receive the power of the Holy Spirit. Much like the spirit we bring to various other events in our lives, the Holy Spirit is the driving force of our witness to the Risen Lord. Jesus did not leave us orphans. He left us in His risen state to carry out the message of the Fathers Will in our world. Living the mission of Faith demands that we rely on the gift of the Spirit. Even Jesus relied on His relationship with the Father shown in the Holy Spirit to accomplish His mission. As people of the Spirit, we are challenged to accept this gift, to allow the Spirit to move in our communities, and make the ministry of the Lord visible. Our Parish Mission statement puts into words the willingness of St. Roberts community to accomplish the mission of Jesus. The Pentecost gift is not a gift given to only charismatic people It is given to all of us so that together we can be empowered to ministry in our world. When we pray, "Come, Holy Spirit" let us truly welcome the Spirit into our lives and respond to the Spirits gifts and call. Father John Glogowski |

"Communion From the Cup" There are a couple of good reasons (that I can think of) for not receiving Communion from the Cup. If you are in recovery from alcoholism, then to drink from the Cup could be a dangerous thing for you. Also, if you have a cold or if you feel one coming on, then it would be best for the community if you did not drink from the common Cup. Although the wiping of the cup with the cloth is very effective as a cleansing action, it is good for us to be cautious and considerate. Just a note: If you have a cold, you may want to use the same caution in holding hands. My family used to have a cup by the sink at home for anybody to get a drink of water. As family, we shared that cup and instinctively trusted that it was OK and safe. If we had a cold, we didnt drink from that cup. I hope we can build a similar trust and respect for our Communion Cup here at St. Roberts. - Pat Kelly |
