Dear Parishioners,

Already a year has passed since my ordination and was welcomed into the parish by so many of you. I feel so much at home and I owe it all to you. I have been greatly inspired by our beloved Pastor Monsignor Bruce Dreier, and all the associate priests including Deacon Rusty. I wish to thank them for the confidence that they have bestowed on me throughout the year.

So much as been made possible for me to do and learn from them. I have been able to perform several baptisms and vigils and I will perform my very first marriage in July.

During the course of this year, I have experienced many happy times and also a very sad time of my life. As most of you knew, we have lost my father-in-law and I ask you to continue to pray for him and for my wife who still has a tough time overcoming the loss.

Our parish staff is also a great bunch. I would like to convey our sincere thanks to them on behalf of my family and myself for being there for us when we need comforting.

I also ask you to continue to pray for Father Joe Healy. I call him our miracle because throughout his illness and his treatments he still performs his duties to the parish. This inspires me also as Fr. Joe Healy and I have known each other for quite some time. During my diaconate formation he was our speaker at our annual retreats and we really got to know and love him very much.

I look forward to serving you for many more years to come in this great Parish of Saint Robert’s and once again thank you for always being warm and pleasant.

MASS WITH CARDINAL LEVADA

His Eminence, Cardinal William J. Levada, Archbishop Emeritus of San Francisco, and Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, will be in the Archdiocese of San Francisco for a brief visit this month.

The Cardinal will celebrate the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 23rd, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. A light reception will follow in Patrons’ Hall.

This will be a welcome occasion to greet Cardinal Levada and congratulate him on his elevation to the College of Cardinals.

Dear Parishioners

We continue to ask each week that parishioners pray for the chronically ill of our parish. If you have a friend or loved one in need of our parish prayers please call the Rectory at 589-2800.

Also, please remember our Emergency prayer network that prays for specific intentions that require a concerted effort due to their critical nature. To facilitate the network, please call Michele Pipinich. The network people then pray frequently for the next 72 hours. We would appreciate a return call with the outcome so we can praise God for His faithfulness.

Father Joe Hung will be transferred to Saint Gregory’s Parish in San Mateo on July 23rd. He will continue his hospital ministry at San Mateo Community Hospital and Seton Hospital. We thank Father Hung for his two years of dedicated service to our parish community and wish him the best as he returns to Saint Gregory’s Church.

Father Hung will celebrate the 11:30 a.m. mass on Sunday, July 23rd.
Following the Mass there will be a reception in Hennessy Hall.
All are invited to share in this celebration.
    

FATHER PAUL O'DELL

Father Paul O’Dell will be joining our pastoral team as our newest Parochial Vicar (associate pastor). Father O’Dell was ordained for the Archdiocese of San Francisco in 1993. Father O’Dell is coming to us from Saint Hilary’s parish in Tiburon. Welcome to Father O’Dell. Just in case someone thinks we are getting an Irish priest, Father O’Dell was born in Korea. We are not certain of the county!
    

UPDATE ON FATHER HEALY

Father Joe went for more intensive treatment of his medical condition on July 4th. He will be away from Saint Robert’s for at least three – four weeks possibly even longer. Unless his health prohibits it, Father Joe will return to Saint Robert’s at the conclusion of his treatment. Cards and notes for Father Joe can be sent to the Rectory. We will forward them to him. Please continue to pray for him. He is very appreciative of all the loving support he has received
    

TWO GATHERINGS

The Social Concerns Committee of St. Robert’s will be meeting in the convent chapel on Tuesday, July 25 at 7 pm. If you haven’t come before, but are interested in helping the parish consider local and global situations in light of the Gospel, please join us. Please call Sr. Sheral at the rectory if you have questions.

The second Caregivers’ Workshop will take place on Saturday, September 30 in the convent chapel from 8:30 am to 1 pm with lunch included. This is for those who care for a parent, spouse, relative or friend, regardless of the level of your involvement. Please help us spread the word by telling others who won’t read this because their responsibilities as caregivers keep them occupied. If you have questions, please call Sr. Patricia at 589-0104 or Sr. Sheral at 589-2800.

Dress Code: Full length black slacks, (jeans or spandex are not permitted), white shirt with collar, closed toe comfortable shoes (preferably black or white).

We will car pool from the rectory. For those working in San Francisco, you can meet the group at the gate.

Volunteers between 16-21 years of age must provide a copy of a picture id which includes his/her birth date.

As of June 29, we've earned our parish $19,675.81!
