PARISH BULLETIN
December 24, 2006
Fourth Sunday of Advent

Dear Saint Robert’s family,

The Advent season is a time of waiting, anticipation and hope. This time of the year our daylight hours become shorter. The weather becomes cooler and damp. We find ourselves inside more of the time. These days we are surrounded by increasingly bad news from the war in Iraq to the starvation in the Sudan. We live under this shroud of darkness.

Advent helps us to cope with this darkness. There is light at the end of the tunnel. We must have hope. It is not easy waiting for solutions to the things which darken our lives. But this season’s call is to wait, to anticipate and to hope. For the promised Messiah will be born. The darkness will be shattered by the light of a star guiding us to the humble birthplace of the Son of God. This child’s presence changed human hearts and changed the course of human history. This birth continues to impact our lives each and every day giving us reason to hope once again as we envision the light at the end of the dark tunnel.

We invite you to share this season of waiting, anticipating and hoping as we prepare the way of the Lord. On Christmas Eve (Sunday afternoon) our children’s Mass will be at 4:30 p.m. In addition on Christmas Eve there will be Masses at 8:00 p.m. and Midnight. Christmas morning our Masses will be at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. There will be no evening Mass on Christmas day.

On behalf of all our parish family, may the remaining days of Advent and the Christmas time be a blessing for you.

Father Bruce

As a Parish Community we pray …....for our Parish Family. May our lives reflect the Lord who dwells within us. May we bring hope to all who suffer from illness, hunger, homelessness and fear.

Our sincere sympathy to the family of
Raymond Kirk
who died recently.

Dear Parishioners

We continue to ask each week that parishioners pray for the chronically ill of our parish. If you have a friend or loved one in need of our parish prayers please call the Rectory at 589-2800.

Also, please remember our Emergency prayer network that prays for specific intentions that require a concerted effort due to their critical nature. To facilitate the network, please call Michele Pipinich. The network people then pray frequently for the next 72 hours. We would appreciate a return call with the outcome so we can praise God for His faithfulness.

This week we pray for
Christopher Soto and Joan Marshall

Thank You and A Request
Thank you to all of you who donated towards our lovely Christmas environment! The evergreens and poinsettias historically remind us of God’s ever-lasting love for us and of Jesus’ love leading him to the shedding of his blood. The beauty of this church gives us hope as we continue to live the gospel of compassion and forgiveness. Six of us are going to Gulfport/Biloxi Dec. 28 until Jan. 4 to help the survivors of Katrina in whatever ways we can. Deacon John Meyer, Ana Gamino, Petra Kretschmer and I are going from here with two other friends of mine, Joan Sexton from Pacifica and Carolyn Pretzer from Sacramento. Please pray for us that we can enflesh in our labor (whatever it may be) the care and concern you’ve shown with your gift cards. We’ll have photos and stories to share when we return! Thank you. S. Sheral
