PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany, the manifestation of our Lord. In the gospel of Matthew, we hear the story of the 3 Magi. They are also referred to as astrologers. There was something different with the stars they studied. There was one star that was brighter than the others. This star was unique. This star was special. It was as if this star was calling for them. Inspired by what they saw and believed about the star, they set out to find its rising. The Magi begin their journey. The journey they embark upon is like no other journey. For their journey is a journey of faith. God calls people of faith to go on a journey. God called Noah, Moses, Abraham, and the Magi to leave everything behind, to leave everything that is familiar and comfortable to them to journey into new and unfamiliar territory. Journeys by nature are not safe. Journeys tend to be treacherous, risky, and at times life-threatening. Nevertheless, people of faith are called to heed this call. What empowered the Magi to take the first step, even though they may have been afraid, was their faith. Each step requires faith. Each step of faith though strengthens one’s faith. The star guided the Magi’s journey. It was as if God was with them all the time. All that the Magi had to do was to look up to the heavens to see the light of God shining down on them. God calls us to embark upon a journey of faith as well. Although we may be afraid and scared about what lies ahead of us, God is always with us. He guides us with the light of his Word and with the grace and strength of the Eucharist. What we find at the end of our journey of faith is well worth it. We find what we have been searching for our whole lives: love, peace, and joy bundled up in a newborn child. What a sight it is indeed. We find that God truly is with us. God has revealed himself in the innocence of a newborn child for all to behold and cherish in one’s heart. Fr. Paul |

Dear Parishioners We continue to ask each week that parishioners pray for the chronically ill of our parish. If you have a friend or loved one in need of our parish prayers please call the Rectory at 589-2800. Also, please remember our Emergency prayer network that prays for specific intentions that require a concerted effort due to their critical nature. To facilitate the network, please call Michele Pipinich. The network people then pray frequently for the next 72 hours. We would appreciate a return call with the outcome so we can praise God for His faithfulness. We continue to ask each week that parishioners pray for the chronically ill of our parish. If you have a friend or loved one in need of our parish prayers please call the Rectory at 589-2800. This week we pray for: |

THANKS |
Thanks go out to the 28 volunteers who delivered three
bags of food, cider, presents and Albertsons’ gift cards to 50 families
Saturday morning, December 23rd. Thank you also to the many parishioners
that made it all come together by their generous donations to the Adopt a
Family program and the annual In-Betweener’s Christmas party. Those
presents, along with the foods left in the basket for SVdP to distribute and
enough cider donated by the ABX Logistics Inc.(three bottles per
family—“thanks to Lynn Xaiver”), were responsible for bringing a little joy
and happiness to 93 adults and 96 children. Special thanks to Nancy McMahon,
Francis Gilfillan and Joan King for the many hours spent organizing the
presents for pick up by the teams of Vincentians. Thank you Margaret & Mary
Shypertt for the use of your garage. There are way too many of you good
people to continue to name, so if you participated in any way or thought of
participating but were unable, take a bow, pat yourself on the back and
thank the Lord for giving you the means to share. God continue to be with
you, AND Thank you! Thank you! St. Robert’s Parish community. Your
generosity is overwhelming. We were able to distribute hundreds of toys,
gifts of clothing and gift certificates to children and young adults who
otherwise would not have much of a Christmas. The gifts were delivered to
St. Anthony of Padua dining room in Menlo Park, North Peninsula Neighborhood
Services of South San Francisco, and San Bruno Catholic Worker Hospitality
House. |
