PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners, Welcome back to all who have been on vacation. Thank you for all the bulletins from around the country. The furthest away "award" goes to the Maurice Keane family who brought me a Parish bulletin from the PARISH OF MALLOW in County Cork, Ireland. By coincidence, both of my parents were born not too far away from Mallow. The "new year" starts with two major events for our Parish. The first is RENEW. I hope that many of you will give serious thought to joining this wonderful program that will help us prepare ourselves for the new millennium. The second event is the Parish Festival. This is our major fund raiser of the year. The cooperation of all parishioners is needed so that we can continue to fund the school, the Religious Education programs and Parish projects. Plan to attend the Festival and help sell raffle tickets to neighbors , friends, and fellow workers. The raffle is the easiest way for us to reach our goal. Sincerely, |
THIS WEEK IN THE LITURGICAL CALENDAR |
FEAST of THE HOLY CROSS - Mon., 9/14 Readings for next SUNDAY, 25TH OF THE YEAR |
MASS MUSINGS |
The liturgical focus for the first season of RENEW
2000 (Oct. 4-Nov. 8) is on "The Sacredness of Gathering." We will pay special
attention to our hospitality and introductory rites during this time. RENEW 2000s Liturgical
Preparation Handbook offers us this reflection about our "gathering:" "Coming together, assembling, is the heart of our Sunday worship. The reason behind each of the ritual actions of the first part of the Mass can be found in the word gathering. The purpose of these rites is to bring the people together into one body, a worshiping community, and to prepare them to hear the Word of God." |

RENEW
2000 |
This week let us pray - Liberate us from that which keeps us from you. RENEW 2000...COME AND SEE How might we rediscover God in our lives? Like the saints and mystics, we do not discover God so much by shutting ourselves away or merely reading about how to become holy. Rather we find God in our everyday lives, in our everyday experiences. If you would like to be trained as a facilitator or open up your home for the 6 week meetings, please call the Rectory Office at 589-2800. Join RENEW in the Fall. |
