Dear Parishioners,

I again want to thank all who contributed to the Annual Appeal of the Archdiocese. Since we reached our goal, all money paid by families still completing their pledges comes back to us and helps to pay for the completion of the Sanctuary windows.Thank you.

I also need to thank companies that have helped us by the donation of equipment and materials - Prime Equipment of the Bay Area (formerly Clementina)for the loan of a 60 foot lift so we could clean all the gutters of our buildings, Metropolitan Electric for the donation of electrical supplies for lighting for the Church windows, Mr. Wire Communications Wiring for materials to help make the school computer friendly, Computer Technicians Incorporated for additional equipment for the computers of the school and the Parish Office. Thank you to all the people of the Parish and other companies who have donated their time to make all the recent improvements possible.

Sincerely,
Father Ring

MASS MUSINGS

Today, the very last Sunday of the liturgical year, the Church celebrates the feast of "Christ the King." We don’t have many beloved, powerful kings in the world anymore, so one might be inclined to use a contemporary metaphor of "President," "Principal," or "CEO." Whatever we call Him, we know that Jesus Christ is God, and it is to God alone that we owe absolute allegiance, worship, and faithfulness. In fact, this feast was instituted in the early 20th century precisely as the Church’s response to rising secularism. On this feast, let’s ask for the help of the Holy Spirit to root out the idols in our lives so that Jesus truly is #1 for us. "Mass Musings" is written by Pat Kelly, the parish liturgist. Comments and critiques are always welcome.

I keep my ideals because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death. I can feel the sufferings of millions, and yet, if I look up in the heavens, I think that it will come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again.

COLLECTION SUNDAY - HELPING PEOPLE HELP THEMSELVES

Today, as we participate in the collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, we are helping people help themselves out of povety. Your gift helps people solve community problems, strengthen families, create jobs, and build affordable housing. For more than 28 years, this annual offering has funded thousands of projects that empower low-income poeple. This nationwide program funds successful projects here in our diocese of San Francisco. Please give generously.

THANKSGIVING FOOD BASKETS

As we prepare to thank God for all good things, let our hearts go out to our sisters and brothers who are less fortunate. Many find it difficult to feed, shelter and clothe their families. Baskets for your gifts of non-perishable food: i.e. tuna, spaghetti and sauce, peanut butter, mayonnaise, cerreal, etc., are on the altar steps. Our St. Vincent de Paul Society will see to it that these members of our Parish family are touched by our love.
