PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners, I am happy to announce that during my period of recovery from surgery, Father John Glogowski will take my place. He has been appointed by the Archbishop as the Parish Administrator until my return on May 1st. Father John was ordained in 1971. He has served in several parishes in the Archdiocese including several years as Pastor of St. Cecilias in Lagunitas. For the past few years, he has been assigned to Our Lady of Mercy in Daly City. Since September, he has attended a program of studies in Rome. Father has many talents and I know that you will continue to work with him, Father Morris and the other members of the Parish staff in the coming months. I am most grateful to the Archbishop, Bishop Westor and the Priests Personnel Board for sending Father to us. Let us pray for each other. Sincerely, |
THIS WEEK IN THE LITURGICAL CALENDAR |
Ordinary Time begins Monday, January 11th Readings for next |
MASS MUSINGS |
Ive been at St. Roberts for six months, and until now I have resisted the urge to trumpet the liturgists rallying cry, "FULL, CONSCIOUS, AND ACTIVE PARTICIPATION!" (Boy, that felt good.) Since Ive now got that out of my system, its time to explain what it means as a vision for the way we are called to participate in every liturgyespecially our Sunday Eucharist. For the next five weeks I will write about "full, conscious, and active participation." We all may or may not share in the vision after these five weeks, but at least youll be able to join me in the cry, "FULL, CONSCIOUS, AND ACTIVE PARTICIPATION!" Or, for those of you who are into acronyms, "FULCON & ACTPAR! FULCON & ACTPAR!" See? Doesnt that feel good? "FULL, CONSCIOUS, AND ACTIVE PARTICI. . . |

WEEK OF
PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY |
God will dwell with them...they will be Gods people" (Rev 21:1-7) is the theme for the 1999 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18-25). Begun in 1908, these days have been set aside each year so that Christians the world over may share the prayer of Jesus: "that all may be one...that the world may believe" (John 17:21). A Daily Scripture and Prayer Guide for the week will be available after Masses this weekend and the next. |

THANK YOU! |
On behalf of the Children's Liturgy Team I wish to thank every one who participated in the Giving Tree. Because of your overwhelming generosity we were able to share the Christmas Spirit with many children in San Mateo County. The gifts from the Giving Tree went to Samaritan House, Catholic Charities, San Bruno Catholic Worker, HIV Aids Food Services and a needy family in San Bruno. I wish to convey my personal thanks to Ben Baldonado, Bob Baker and their families for storing, sorting and delivering all the gifts to the different organizations. You are the best helpers Santa ever had. As always the people of St. Roberts are a wonderful example of a caring Christian community. MaryAnn SaisiALSO Thank you so much for the parishs donation of $5,588.11 which we received from you for the Notre Dame India Mission. Sister Mary Sharan and all the Sisters in India join me in thanking you for this generosity. Sincerely in Christ Mission Director |
AIDS LUNCHES BEGIN AGAIN! |

If you can prepare a favorite cookie, snack or lunch item for 10 to 12 people, please drop it off at the childrens chapel, in the back of the Church by 9:15 a.m. on Jan. 13th. Please pack the items in a non-returnable container. Frozen items can be donated; they will be saved for a day when no other food is produced. Please contact Deacon Duffey 588-6577 with questions. Once again thanks for all your help, its very much appreciated. |

SUPPORT BLACK AND INDIAN MISSIONS |
The appeal is very important. As Gods children we must share in the Lords Sacrifice because all of us are called upon to be part of the Churchs mission of evangelization. The Churchs National Collection for Black and Indian Missions in the United States will be taken at all Masses next weekend. Last year, over seven million dollars were contributed to the national total and - 98 cents of every dollar was distributed. The support went to some of the neediest people of the United States; from the inner cities of the rural South, from the deserts of the Southwest to Alaskas cold wilderness 130 Dioceses received assistance from the collection. Through your gifts, you will join your sacrifice to Christs by helping those who sacrifice daily to lead others to Christ. Please be Generous. |
