PARISH BULLETIN |
Dear Parishioners, This Sunday is designated as Catechetical Sunday. The theme Love Beyond All Telling is a reminder to us, catechists, that we must love our young people in order to teach them. In the three parables from todays gospel: The Lost Sheep Jesus teaches us about the constancy and power of Gods love and mercy. He tells us that Gods love is ours for the asking. Catechetical Sunday is the occasion when parishes throughout the United States recognize man, women and young adults involved in parish catechetical ministry. At the 9:00 a.m. and at 5:30 p.m. Masses today we will have a special blessing for all our parish catechists. The commissioning highlights not only the role of the catechist but also the importance of the family as the primary focus of catechists. As we begin another year in ministry we pray for and bless those who share the Churchs story, that we may be powerful witnesses to this love beyond all telling. Jesus is our model. His was a challenging ministry. At times He must have been exasperated with the Apostles, with their many questions, their doubts, and their apparent lack of faith. But Jesus never gave up. Let us, too, be steadfast and persevering in providing a climate of hope and trust that will help nurture and strengthen the faith of our young people. Sister Mary |
