Pastor's Update

Fr. Arnold Zamora

March 24 2023

Things you may want to know this week.

1.

I just came back from the Pastor’s Workshop held at St. Matthew Church that started yesterday. The workshop is part of the Next Generation Parish Program offered by the Archdiocese to the parishes that were awarded a scholarship through the Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI). It is designed to give the pastors of St. Matthew, St. Cecilia, St. Kevin, St. Anthony (Novato), Our Lady of Angels, and St. Robert an orientation to the program and all it entails. All six pastors attended. We are so blessed and privileged to be selected as one of the few parishes that will be guided on how we can grow together as a faith-filled community in our journey toward Jesus.

2.

PLEASE! PLEASE! Don’t take the bait! The email phishing continues to plague our parishioners by pretending to be coming from me and asking for favors. Be assured that those emails are not from me! Do not respond or engage in this kind of fraud. Changing my password will not work because my email is not hacked. Delete suspicious emails right away!

3.

Out of respect for Holy Week, there will be no monthly Grief Support Group meeting in April. However, if you are in need of support due to a past or present loss of a loved one or have any questions in general, please don't hesitate to contact Judy Kerrigan -- srconsolationmin@att.net

4.

Thank you for your support of the Archdiocesan Annual Appeal. I was pleasantly surprised by our online donations, which skyrocketed to $31,098 in such a short time compared to last year. Our total pledge at this time is $38,665.53. That is 37% of our goal of $103,208. Yes, we have a long ways to go, but I am confident that our parishioners will respond generously. We are blessed with your faithfulness to the Church and your local community.

5.

Next Thursday, March 30, is the Chrism Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Chrism Mass is when the bishop blesses the oils we use for our Sacraments of Baptism, Anointing of the Sick, and Confirmation. It is also during this Mass that the priests in the entire Archdiocese will renew our priestly vows. You are invited to attend this Mass and support our priests.

Fr. Arnold

(Father Arnold Zamora)

March 24, 2023

Dear St. Robert’s parishioners and friends,

Meaningful Rules to Live:

BE silent when our words would hurt;
BE patient when being hurt;
BE deaf when shortcoming of others flows;
BE thoughtful of other's woes;
SHARE whatever little we have;
and
BE kind all the time, instead of being right most of the time...

BE blessed and
Be a blessing,

-Fr. Arnold

Synod

2021 thru 2023

What is a synod?

A synod is a council of the Church, usually convened to decide an issue of doctrine, administration or application. The word synod is from the Greek sinodos (s???d??) meaning “assembly” or “meeting” and is similar to the Latin concilium meaning “council”. Sometimes the phrase “general synod” or “general council” refers to an ecumenical council, like the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965).
