Dear Parishioners,

"Let us give thanks to the Lord...It is right to give Him thanks and praise". Familiar words uttered in faith.

Whenever we gather at the Liturgy, it is to give thanks. We celebrate the Eucharist - gathered by the Holy Spirit we give thanks and glory to the Father, in - and - through Jesus Christ our Lord and King.

We are sent forth to be a Eucharistic people. We are commissioned to offer our God thanks in the service we render to one another - the words and deeds of justice and peace which give God praise.

This Thursday, November 28th, we celebrate a National Day of Thanksgiving - a day of gratitude for the blessings we often take for granted. It is a day of food and drink, of family and friends, a day of special memories - a day of thanks.

In the ‘comings and goings’ - the preparations - the ‘busy-ness’ of this day, let us not forget to lift up our hearts to the Lord. For it is right to give God our thanks and praise!

Father Tom

IMPORTANT CHANGES IN LITURGY TO TAKE PLACE NEXT WEEKEND!

Archbishop Levada has directed us to begin using norms for posture and gesture from the recently revised Roman Missal effective next weekend, November 30-December 1st. Below is a summary of the changes we will enact at Mass beginning at the 4:30pm Mass next Saturday:

KNEELING DURING THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER
We will kneel during the Eucharistic Prayer from the completion of the "Holy, Holy" until after the "Great Amen" at the end of the prayer. Standing (preferred) or sitting is acceptable on occasion due to reasons of health, lack of space, the large number of people present, or some other good reason. For the sake of the unity of the assembly of people, all should follow directions given by the priest or deacon at each liturgy.

KNEELING DURING THE INVITATION TO HOLY COMMUNION
We will kneel from the completion of the "Lamb of God," when the consecrated Bread and Wine are presented before us as the Body and Blood of Christ, until the distribution of Holy Communion at which time all may stand or sit.

BOWING DURING HOLY COMMUNION
The normal posture for the reception of Holy Communion is standing. While the person ahead is receiving communion, communicants should make a simple bow (a bow of the head) as an act of reverence before receiving the consecrated Bread or Wine.
